Feeding this army

Sometimes I feel like I shop/cook/serve for an army.

My family of 6 may not be the biggest, but with two teenagers,  a 6 yrs old, and a toddler I'm always in the kitchen.

I'm so thankful to be able to be home full time,  able to be in my kitchen all day.  It brings me great joy to serve my family in this way.  But it can be taxing.

I thought I'd start sharing more here.

Every two weeks I'll share our meal plan (which will consist of our favorites, I do make the same things a lot, but for my own enjoyment try a new recipe here & there).

Its Monday of the second week in my current meal plan.

My sophomore daughter has a HS Volleyball game tonight, she may eat with the team... if not there will be plenty of leftovers. My Senior son has  football practice and will be home in time for dinner.

Tonight it's one of my family's favorites that they never ever seem to get tired of : TACOS

We're not picky on taco seasonings, I usually buy premade packets (usually the cheapest) but I ran out so I'm gonna make homemade seasoning which I find works out and tastes just the same -- it just takes a tiny bit more effort and all the ingredients on hand (which thankfully I have!)

Here is the recipe I use:

What are you making for dinner?

The Very Best Hands-On Kinda Dangerous Family Devotions | A Busy Mom's book review

I recieved this book from Revell for review.

Looking over this devotional, it has a lot of really fun activities.

I can see a dad with a toolbox box full of gadgets having a blast leading his family through this one!

It really is hands on and each activity has a list if items you'd need (probably stuff you have in your garage) and step by step guide with lots of great insight and questions to ask.

-----
This book isn't gonna work for my family. But I'm happy to pass this one on, I looks really fun!

Powerful Prayers for your sons & daughters | A busy mom's book review

I recieved these books complimentary from Revel publishing for review.

Powerful Prayers for Your Daughter

Powerful Prayers for Your Son

Being a mom of 4 (3 boys, and 1 girl) means lots of prayers for my children daily.  I like that these book have some really great insight, lots of Scripture and an amazing table of contents that is so helpful when looking for a specific prayer guide for a specific issue.

These are books I'm still reading through and see myself having out and reading for months and months. I'm searching out prayers that are relevant for each child then marking in each book when each prayer was used and door what child (well in the boys book).

I'd recommend these to any mom. They're well written and helpful.

I also found a 7-day devotional for each book on the YouVersion bible app.

This would be a great way to get a taste for the content of these books before you pick them up!

The Refuge | A busy mom's book review

I received a copy of Ann H. Gabhart's book The Refuge from Revel for review.
-----
I chose this book because last year I read one of Ann's books and fell in love with her writing, characters and story.  I was excited to pick up another of her novels.

This did not disappoint, this novel was easy to read (despite being 390 pages), it did take me over a month because #momlife,  but whenever I found free time to pick this up I was delighted.

This is a story set in the time when the Shakers were in full force.
I knew nothing of the Shakers/Quakers before starting this book but gained much interesting knowledge from this book and the googling it led me to do. They were a fascinating group.  This story highlights the good & bad of sect.

Ann H. Gabhart's historical novels have been so enjoyable, I'm eager to read more & more.

love where you live | A busy Mom Book Review

Shauna Pilgreen's book Love Where You Live book sparked my interest right away when I saw some early posts on Instagram. I originally thought it was a book about actually loving your home, your space in which you live...

This sparked my interest since I'm currently in a small house with my family of 6 in the state I prayed for but not at all the right area.

A quick look into the book and I realized this book isn't about loving the space in which you live but loving the people (family, neighbors, neighborhood,  city... ) in which you dwell.

This was on my heart 2 years ago when I moved here, and still is but I did get discouraged when finding a church to be a part of and friends to love on proved difficult  and I admit I've shrunk back, I've stopped trying.

This book has opened my eyes to that feeling again, that real truth....
We are where we are for a reason.
Gods purpose,  and this book is showing the next steps to take in LOVING where I live.

Thirsty For More by Allison Allen | A Busy Mom Book Review

Desert Season: when your walk with God feels a bit.....dry, arid, not existent??

We've all either been there, are there, or will be there someday.

This book helps you see this hard place as a place, actually, maybe desirable.

  We all have heard:

"... but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance;
perseverance, character; and character, hope.
And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us. "

Allison Allen  has connected the dots in this book for us.
She shares her research, her trials & some amazing insight.

I recommend this book for not just the people in a desert now*, but all... because while we may not think we need it currently.. more than likely we will soon & I'm positive someone you know & love could benefit from you sharing your copy as well <3

*This book is helping me through a desert season right now.
Understanding how important and appointed desert walks can be, and that blessings are within and through it have really helped me SO MUCH!
