Father's Day Shadow Picture

I saw this cute picture on pinterest, of course, and figured it would be pretty simple & FREE and really wanted to try it out this year for Father's Day.

Father's Day 2015 is still a couple weeks away, but I'm fairly certain my hubby doesn't seek out my blogs to read them, unless I share them on my FB page, and I don't plan on doing that with this until after Father's Day.  But it's a cute concept and turns out pretty cute {if you can get your kids to co-operate} and thought I'd share the idea!!

I basicly took an old cardboard box from our move, broke it apart, free-handed the words I <3 DAD on it and cut it out!  - easy peasy!

The hardest part for us was catching the sun (for some reason whenever we had time or it was a good time to go out and try this, it was cloudy, or sunny with a few clouds... but by the time we all got situated and got the TWO YEAR OLD TO HOLD THE SIGN AND STAND STILL, we'd get a huge cloud)

It took a bunch of shots over a few different days but I finally got a shot I was HAPPY with, not exactly as perfect as I had envisioned.  But I think, still, it's adorable!

I plan on mostly using this to post online of Father's Day, but might just get a print made too and frame it! (I'll add a photo of that later, if I do!)

"practice shots", we'll call them:

Finally, moments before the sun went under a huge cloud today -

The pin for my inspiration came from The Honest Company's Blog:

The Honest Company Products Junkie & coupon code

This post is NOT SPONSORED, I bought all of this stuff. But will include my referral links.

So I just got my 4th Essentials Bundle from The Honest Company, and I'm really to scream from the rooftops JUST HOW MUCH I LOVE THEM.

Here are just a couple:

I've tried a lot of their products now, still more I'd love to try,but I think I have all the big ones I've been needing & will use for a while. I'm gonna list what I have tried & a little bit about each product, maybe someone who is interested in trying some of these products out would be interested!

I must say I didn't order the sample pack (I knew I'd want to try bigger products, to get a good feel)
Also when you follow someones link and you can get $10 off your first order which made the bundle $25.95 instead of the original $35.95 so that was awesome! I basicly paid  $5.19 per product -- they are WAY MORE THAN THAT at Target FYI & also you can choose the BIGGEST MOST EXPENSIVE products to start out and make it even more of an awesome savings!

What I love most about all these products (besided the cute, simple packaging) is the fact that they don't add JUNK to their formulas, this stuff isn't gonna make you gag & sneeze! And there is not added colors or synthetic frangrances or harsh chemicals.

All Purpose Cleaner  & Stain Remover
(two of my first Honest loves)

They look very similar, I'm glad their kept in separate rooms because I'd probably get them confused often.

honest stain remover is what I use on our laundry stains, it is in a French Lavender scent, and I've found it works well on my messy 2 year olds food stains & also got some smashed up blueberries out of my carpet, just saying - it works!

honest multi-surface cleaner is what I use on almost everything, I've always been a fan of muli-purpose cleaners for countertops and use it all day every day in my kitchen and dinning room, and on my bathroom counters. This is in a white grapefruit scent.  I find that it's a subtle scent and works just as well as the Method/SevGen stuff I used to use!
I've also repurchased this refill bottle & it's just as perfect.

organic breath easy rub  this perfect substitution for those chemical laiden menthol rubs on the market!
This rub uses essential oils and works wonders!! Safe for kids 3 months & up!
"Helps clear stuffy noses & support a good night's sleep" !
This smells WONDERFUL! I can really smell the Lavender essential oil - which is my fav, I'll rub some of this on my son when he's congested & some on myself for relaxation factor.

honest auto dishwasher gel This stuff really surprised me. I have a really small, really old dishwasher (small apartment rental) and I had been using Cascade Complete {the most expensive I could find, because that means it will work better, right?} and even that was leaving my dishes cloudy & actually left blue scum on the bottom of my washer.  I figured it was just what I had to deal with, my washer was too old and would never work that great.  Then I tried HONEST dishwasher gel and it got my dishes clean, AND cleaned up the blue scum mess Cascade left behind!  Mind blown.  Forget what you think about "natural" products not working as well... they do, sometimes a lot better than all that harsh stuff!!

honest rinse aid this stuff is free & clear and seems to be working well for my dishes! I haven't had any spots or residue!

honest dish soap LOVE! Just love. While I have a dishwasher { ^ small but washes most my stuff} I still find my self filling the sink at least 3 times a day to wash sippy cups, bottles, my water glasses & stainless steel straws, and pots & pans.  I need something that will get grim off of my pans and also be safe enough & not leave a strong scent on my son's bottles.  THIS IS THAT.  And bonus, it doesn't dry out my skin!

suds up bamboo brush & ceramic soap dish UM, Adorable!  This thing not only looks oh so cute sitting near my sink, but has become a must have for my stainless steel pots & pans, this works so well, I love that the dish lets the brush drain & dry.

Do see how much I love lavender yet? Everything in my home is lavender from my laundry soap to my bath salts... but it's so gooooood!

honest hand soap I'm loving this stuff & it has lasted me soo long, I've gone through a whole dish soap bottle & barely half of this hand soap... I wash my hands ALL THE TIME. I found using a half pump of this is just fine & makes it last a long time, it smells great & doesn't NOT DRY OUT MY HANDS in the winter & that is major.

honest bubble bath this is something I've already repurchased (even before I ran out) because I didn't want to run out & it works wonderfully! Finally a non-toxic bubble bath that ACTUALLY MAKES BUBBLES, that last! The scent is Tangerine Dream, but is very subtle. I love this for my 2 year old's bathtime!  And.... my bath time :)

honest deodorant smells so fresh! I found this really does keep me smelling fresh. This isn't an antiperspirant, so it won't stop you from sweating, but it's perfect to give your pits a break from all those harsh & toxic chemicals. Antiperspirant stops your body from purging toxins in your body that then make their way into your lymph nodes! Let your body breath & sweat!

honest 4 in 1 laundry packs super handy to have on hand. No measuring, just pop one in the washer. These are also handy when you'll be away from home for a few days but need to to laundry you can pack these in a little bag and not worry about spills & always have the perfect amount to wash your clothes!

honest dryer cloths I love that these come wet, they're not putting harsh, flamable chemicals onto your laundry. Each cloth can be used twice and I like to add my own essential oils to them for a nice lingering scent.  These really help with static that my wool dryer balls do not!

honest shampoo & body wash
honest face + body lotion  both wonderful! I use them mostly for my child, it's tear free. But the wash is a subtle scent that would be pefect for the whole family! The lotion is scent-less and I love to add my own Young Living essential oils to it for myself, especially with frankincense on my face!

honest bug spray this stuff smells soo good! I was thinking about mixing up my own blend of essential oils as a natural bug spray, but this stuff is so much easier!  Tested for effectiveness & much cheaper when bundled!!

honest sunscreen this stuff is clear! How awesome that you don't have to worry about rubbing in thick white cream! I haven't tried this yet, I'm excited to! Bring on summer!!

And finally, one of their newer products...

OMG! So cute! My little guys has been loving wearing sunglasses latley, he can't stand when the sun in his eyes!  These are so cute, come in 5 fun summer colors & are great quality! They come with a cute protective case too!
They'r only $12.95! But you can get them at a 25% discount if you add it on to a bundle!

So if you haven't yet tried any of Honest's amazing home products {they also have SOOOOOOOO cute disposable diapers, baby formula, and vitamin bundles too!}  MIGHT AS WELL TRY SOME with a $10 off coupon I haven available for you!!!

DIY Coconut Oil Pulling CHEWS!

I saw a post someone had made about something similar to this on a YL FB group I'm part of.
They had used cake pop molds - I had this small silicone star ice cube tray and it worked PERFECTLY!

All you'll need to make these -

Coconut Oil - Virgin Unrefined is the best kind, this is solid at room temp and melts around 74F

A mold

Essential oils to add some extra punch!

Coconut oil pulling claims many benefits including strengthening removing toxins from the mouth, restoring gum health and whitening teeth - but I came up with an recipe that can be even MORE TRANSFORMING.

Young Living oils Thieves & Orange claim mouth health benefits as well,
Thieves to boost immune system and orange claims to help in whitening as well.

I thought this sounded like a tasty combination
In Thieves oil clove is a strong component, mixed with the orange and coconut flavors it turned out amazing!

The step to make these couldn't be easier.
You can't go wrong, you can measure out the oils to your liking
I used 1/4 cut coconut oil
8 drops of Thieves & 4 Drops of Orange and made 12 chews

I melted the coconut oil in a metal measuring scoop set in a hot bowl of water.

It melted pretty fast, I then poured the oil in a cup with a spout, mixed the essential oils in & stirred.
Poured the oil mixture in my star-shaped molds and popped them in the fridge to cool.

When they were solid again, I popped them out and store them in a glass jar in the fridge (so they won't accidently melt if my kitchen gets too warm.

Me and My Two-Year-Old's FAVORITE THINGS | January 2015

I tried to make a YouTube video with our Jan favs on my Sublime Jen YT Channel.. and videos are such a headache for me to make :(  I love love looking back on them, but my camera quality sucks, I think it's filming then and find out when I go to edit it wasn't, or the sound is horrible... or Cannon is making SUPER loud background noise.

So I just don't think it's do-able for me. I take a bazillion pictures (and video) but sitting down to do face-to-camera YT videos -- I suck at it.

I do still like documenting what we're loving each month, so I'm gonna share via blog instead.

Here are a few still shots for the video-that-will-never-be  to prove I did in fact try.

I LOVE LOVE looking back on the monthly lists of our favorite things. I'm finding filming & editing to be something I can't find the time for (or don't want to find the time for I guess)  Taking pictures and typing at my leisure takes MUCH LESS time, and it don't do YouTube for the views (although I LOVE getting comments & feedback) so I may not get any "views" on the blog either, but I'll have this documented for me.

I still take tons of video, because those are amazing to watch, but when they'll get put together & put on YT (if ever), I don't know. They'll be on my family video channel.

MY JANUARY FAVORITES

Young Living Oils!

- This is big.  I took the leap in joing YL, and honestly using EO for the first time EVER in January.  January 1 to be exact.  I JUST wanted the difuser and want Lavender and wanted to replace my candles with something more natural & healthy for my family to breathe.

I've enjoyed the scent benefits SO MUCH. But have been amazed all the other things I've been using oils for! I've learned so MUCH from my "team" and the FB group I've joined.

Oils amaze me more & more each day.

Read my First Month With Young Living post to learn more!

Glass drinkware

I've been wanting a LifeFactory water bottle for a long time (still do) but they're so expensive!!
I found one similar at Gordmans and scooped it up. This is perfect for water all day, I don't have to worry about plastic chemicals leaching (except for the cap is plastic, and I'm not sure if it's BPA free :/)  For now until I can bring myself to purchase LF this will do.  I love drinking water with Lemon Oil in it & because of the acidity that can not be put in plastic. This is perfect.

Also another glass found at Gordmans -

A glass tumbler (came with a plastic cap & straw, I replaced with a stainless steel straw I had).  This is so cute! I LOVE the pink ombre color {hello, look at my hair!} and it was only $2.99!  I think I need to go get more!

LifeFactory 9oz bottles

Now, I can't bring my self to buy a 22oz for $25 for myself, I DID purchase 3 9oz bottles through the Citrus Lane shop for my kids.  CL had an awesome sale for subscribers - $20 off a $60 purchase.  I also had a $20 credit, so I got three bottles ($14.95 each), a pack of sippy cup lids and a book (see later, one of C's favs) all for like $22. THAT I could justify.

These bottles have been PERFECT for my older kids' lunches.

3 Ring Binder-style 12x12 Scrapbooks!

Have these always been around? Why have I been using POST BOUND books for so long, they're a pain in the butt, hard to arrange pages and do not hold near the amout these 3 Ring albums do!

I got my first one as Christmas gift.  I got the We R Memory Keeper in "Tangerine"  but I found a couple similar at Hobby Lobby (when they're 50% off they're only $10!)

Love Love!! I still have so many finished pages that need albums - can't wait to pick up more!
I love the little tag on the side to mark the contents.

The Honest Co. Stain remover

I heard great things about this Honest Co. spray from Carla The BubbleLush {in one of her videos}
I needed something more than Shout! Which wasn't cutting it anymore for us.

I purchased this when they had a free shipping promotion, and also got a All-Purpose Spray & Chest Rub as well.

Which are both also great, but the STAIN REMOVER is super great! It's gotten all the stains out I've tried it on so far & I love the Lavender Scent & the great ingredients! - I'm still thinking about doing their subscription.

--------------------------------------

MY TWO YEAR OLD'S FAVORITES

#1 fave since Christmas morning has to be.....
TRAINS, more specifically wooden trains (&train tracks) and even more specifically Chuggington trains!

He got these three Chuggers in his Christmas stocking, and honestly he would of been happy to stop there..he was so so happy with them!

 - And in Jan I found this little train table on clearance at Gordmans (man, I've been shopping there a lot!) and it's perfect for all this stuff.

Paw Patrol
He went through a faze in Jan where all he wanted to do was watch Paw Patrol, He turned 2 on Jan 8 and he was sick with an ear infection ON his birthday :/  And pretty much only wanted to sit and watch Paw Patrol, he also has two small PP toys (they're so hard to find!) that he loves to play with.

TRAINS GO book
This is the book I ordered from the Citrus Lane Shop, they have it on clearance.
It's a big board book, with simple words and Cannon LOVES it. We read it every night & all through the day sometimes.

Oogaa Silicone bowls
These are awesome. They're so durable, won't break when dropped. I love the most the fact that they're not plastic, there is no harmful chemicals that can leach into your childs food if you put hot food in them to cool!

We have two bowls and need more!

Chobani Greek Yogurt sticks
He's only tried the strawberry, but he LOVES these!

Sesame Street Fizzy Tub Colors

Little bath bombs that turn the bath water colors.
Everynight we have to use these. He always wants at least two. Mixing the colors is fun (two per bath, mix them all and you'll get grey water :p)

What are some of your toddlers favorite things?
