Julep Nail Poish Subscription Box!

I admit I had not heard of this brand before I signed up for this subscription box. I saw a review from a vlogger I watch on youtube and she shared a deal for a free month and I thought - what the hell.
I've since found out these polishes are actually legit {I'm sorry, I'm always skeptical with sub boxes} and sell at Sephora for nearly $15 a bottle! Well, I've never shopped at Sephora.. never had one near me. So I did not know, so after hearing that I was expecting much more.
I got the email that my box shipped the day I signed up and I got the box 8 days after that.
I actually went to get my mail today {we have a PO BOX} and saw that I had a "item too large for box" slip -- which means I needed to pick it up inside the office {which was closed...don't get me started on why my post office "closes" it's office for two hours everyday during the most inconvienient times 11:30-1:} So I walked back home because it was 1:15, ugh, and walked back around 1:45. I had already forgotten about this order and was confused on what package I would of recieved, but when I saw the box that clearly said JULEP.COM on it I was instantly excited!
When you sign up they ask you to take this survey that is supposed to asses your style. In the end they sent me the "Bombshell Started pack" . Not sure if I had a choice in the matter... I know when you are a paid subscriber you can take the quiz but then also change your style they've chose for you if you decide you like another better.
I don't remember if I had an option with the intro box, but I do know I didn't look into it...and didn't have a clue what they were sending me so it was a true surprise.

 photo 20130918_134520_zps1080a399.jpg

And I was pleasantly surprised. I got two polishes, a sample foot scrub and a full size foot lotion! ALL FOR $3.99 I might add!

I do love the polishes: A chunky gold glitter and a bright coral color.
Totally both I would pick out myself.

I did try them out immediatly, duh. {how cool my too, they just so happen to match the shirt I was wearing!}
And I must say, they are smoooooth. I did two thin layers on each nail and they dried very quickly. I'm normally a Shellac wearer when I wear polish {which has been rare lately, because with a baby I don't really have time to shellac my own nails...} because I'm horrible with being patient and letting my nails dry. I really didn't have a problem with this polish.. it dried very fast. And I feel like the finish is high quality -- like it won't chip easily, of course only time will tell... I will let you know.

I did try the lotion as well. It smells great, like mint and cucumber, I put some on after a shower tonight and it feels night, with just a slight cooling feeling...which is great, I don't like too much.

 photo 20130918_140635_zps31c67dc1.jpg

Over all I'm happy with the whole box... for $3.99 FOR SURE Regular sub price is about $20 a month... now I'm not sure about that. Considering what you get, I would say it IS worth it... especially if these polishes are $15 each in store... but for me where I'm at in life... do I need to be spending $20 per month on high end polishes???
Probably not. Maybe a month here & there as a treat if there are polishes out that I just MUST HAVE... but as a monthly subscription I think I'll put this one on the backburner.
I will rave about the products because if this is something you would love and utilize... if you do change up your polishes often and like to stay on trend...I would say GO FOR THIS BOX, it's so fun to open your mail box to!!

If you do decide you'd like to try this out, YOU TOO, can get your first box for shipping only - $3.99 if you follow this link & use code FREEBOX
http://www.julep.com/rewardsref/index/refer/id/334251/
GO FOR IT! What do you have to loose?

Since it took me DAYS to get this draft finished, I must say the polish lasted a good 3 days before it really started chipping, which is good for regular polish {with no base or top coat!} The glitter especially was hard to remove. But as a total review I love the polishes, they go on smooth, last a good amount of time, look clean... I WILL get more boxes {I put this next month on "skip" {which I LOVE that you can do without canceling the whole subscription you can skip months when you want to} but think I might get next month's box!

$2 snack subscription box! & Possible bonus!

Felt the need to share this amazing deal I just got. I was watch a YouTube vlog and the vlogger had made a "unboxing" video of a subscription snack box she got from LOVE WITH FOOD which I hadn't heard about but looked like the things she got were pretty delish -- and included a snack I had tried before and loved so I was interested right away.. she had a code to give out for $10 off which made the first box {and you can cancel after that} only $2!! Which is seriously a good deal for the amount of things you get. And worth a shot. AND its agreat company that donatesfood to kids with every purchase!
CODE: TRGFOOD

SO excited to order that and see what I get -- but as a bonus after I signed up for the "subscription" they gave me a code for $15 to soap.com!! {hello, I shop there all the time -- see my Haul with my Vine.com loot {its a sister site}} I was stoked to head over and see if it worked since I've been a member for a long time and was wondering if it was for new customers only.... nope! It worked I just bought 3 new Method products {all purpose spray, glass cleaner & shower spray} AND some Tom's toothpaste.... FOR FREE {I dont even think I used the full $15}, & I used the code GOCRAZY for free shipping as well. SCORE... and they're super fast so I'll get that stuff tomorrow!!
Not sure if everyone who signs up with LOVE WITH FOOD get's that deal -- but for $2 for the box {and possibly $15 free from soap.com} it's worth a shot!!
{DISCLAIMER} I think this LWF code is only good for today & tomorrow.... so hurry!!

Vine.com haul

I haven't been shopping for anything fun lately. But I did order a few things online last week from Vine.com {which is part of the FAMILYHOOD group of sites like diapers.comsoap.combookworm.com & others} is AMAZING. I love this group of sites and actually order from them often because they do next day {FREE} shipping {like Amazon, but better!} and when you use the code GOCRAZY at check out you get 3 months free {I'm not sure what the price is after that...}
 photo vine_zpsc85b6bcc.jpg
I was seriously low on this dish soap and coconut oil. The closest store that sells Sev Gen is Target 30 min away -- I ordered this around 2pm one afternoon and got it the next day at 3pm. Saved me a trip & used a discount code & free shipping... so worth it. It's the only thing I like to use on Cannon's bottles and my breastpump parts.
The coconut oil I use as a nipple cream & diaper cream....so I use a lot of that too.
The lotion? I never tried it... but I used the Baby Bee original soap on C and love the scent on him after baths... we were using unscented Aveno lotion, but wanted to extend the scent. And this lotion smells just like the soap & we love it!
If you're ever interested in using any of these sites & getting 20% off I can earn referal credit if you use the code: SUBL3209 win, win!!
*forgot to mention. Vine.com is their more natural/healthy branch, but you can pretty much get the same stuff across all sites & order from all sites and they'll go into a mutual shopping cart.

FREE photo book with free shipping; Free Groovebook APP

I admit when I heard of this app, GrooveBook that lets you select 100 photos from your phone to be printed into a photo book for only the cost of shipping {$2.99} each month, my first thought was BS.

I was curious but tend to not believe when things sound so easy and cheap.

I can't remember now where I saw this offer originally, possibly a post by someone on facebook.
There was a code for the free month for FREE. Free shipping, just free free.

I thought, what do I have to loose?

So I downloaded the app and  started choosing 100 photos I'd like in the book, I decided to choose a variety of photos I took including some from instagram to get a feel {if this book ever showed up} what the prints would look like with photos of that size as well.

Choosing the photos was pretty simple - they make it pretty simple to select 100 photo you go through your albums and get 100 green check marks and you can add them to the photos you want, and it also lets you know which ones you haven't selected yet and which ones you've already printed previously.

So I chose my photos and started the upload -- I do admit thinking this part took too long, and I even think I stopped checking on it for awhile {not really knowing if it was working or not} but coming back to it like an hour later and seeing that it gave me my confirmation page that my book was ordered!

I'm not sure how long it really took to upload.

Cool, I thought. Then I kinda forgot about it.  I figured it would take awhile to get and if it showed it showed, but set an alarm on my phone for a little before a month from then to let me know to cancel my subscription if  a)I didn't receive the book or b)I didn't think it was worth it. {Because BIG FYI: if you sign up, you still have to choose the photos you want each month because you'll be charged the $2.99 each month whether you order the book or not!}

My book came in a little under two weeks!  I got it today, and I'm actually pretty impressed!

I think the photo quality isn't AMAZING, but it's pretty darn good for phone photos! I'd say its a little better than photos I could have printed at home {on my HP photosmart printer, which prints pretty nice photos} and a heck of a lot cheaper too! And come in this bound book with perforated pages for easy removal of the photos.

I think it would make a cute simple photo book, if you decided to leave all the photos together, but I didn't intend to do that so I started taking pictures out to put in some of my photo collage frames around the house and must say once I started taking a few pages out the rest started to fall apart.
 {so, fyi, either leave them all in or the book wont stay together for long}

This app is pretty new in the app store, but I'd totally recommend it. I think my only thumbsdown is that the app ran kinda slow -- but it all worked out and I'm sure they'll improve that over time!

ALL in all this is a great product and EASY EASY way to get those photos off your phone that you KNOW otherwise will just stay there taking up space on your phone!

I think I'll keep the subscription for awhile!

I've been meaning to switch out the photos in my multiple photo frames around my home for awhile, but never get to printing anything, ever. This makes it so simple!

I got a code with my order to offer to friends, so you can also try a book out for FREE FREE if you want! Just download the app {iphone & android} and use this code to let them know I sent you!! :

Lactation Cookies to help with breastmilk production for nursing or exclusively pumping moms!

I have been wanting to share this cookie recipe for awhile now and have decided this is the best way-- I have a couple other blogs {a more personal family blog & a more personal personal private blog}just recently started this one for the purpose of all fun, informational, helpful tidbits I feel I just have to share with people.

I'll start with saying I have a 6 month old little boy would is currently exclusively breastfed. Yes I'm calling it that even though I EXCLUSIVELY PUMP breast milk for him. Some may say he is not technically "breast-fed" at the boob... but he has drank 100% my breast milk for his entire life, I'll call it what I want.

I've tried a few different Lactation cookies ones and this is the one I've found to be the most delish.  I must say when I heard of this idea of making cookies and eating them to help boost my supply it kinda sounded like a miracle... {maybe too good to be true?} I mean I've never been an "over supplier" I have a small small {dwindling} freezer stash but I keep up with him and that is all that matters...but I have a major supply DIP pretty much once every month when my wonderful friend AF visits and at the time I'm desperately trying everything I can think to keep up.
And, um, I like cookies.

I must say, I used Coconut oil instead of butter and the batter tasted like an Almond Joy candy bar and the cookies too, were so yummy.

{It's not recommended you eat the raw batter if you're pregnant, of course, because of the raw egg...but if you're not, go for it-- it's more potent that way!}

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup butter or margarine {or same amount of  virgin coconut oil!}
  • 1 & 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 4 T water
  • 2 T flax seed meal {I used milled flax seed, not sure what the diff would be?}
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 t vanilla (optional, for flavor)
  • 2 cups plain flour {if I had it would of done half whole wheat flour}
  • 1 t baking soda
  • 1 t salt
  • 3 cups oats, thick cut if you can get them {best not to use quick oats}
  • 2-4 tablespoons of brewers yeast (this is the magic ingredient – not to be confused with bakers yeast or any other yeast) {I used 4T}
  •  A cup or so of chocolate chips {or anything you'd like to mix in.. I added coconut flakes, you could at nuts or raisins...}
  •
    IMPORTANT! Do not substitute the brewers yeast for any other products or yeasts… that’s the ingredient which makes them work, along with oats. Nutritional yeast and bakers yeast is different. If you don’t notice much of an increase the first time or if you need to increase your supply even more, add more brewers yeast.

    I found these products on Amazon

    Brewer's Yeast

    Coconut Oil

    Flax Seed

    Oats

    MIX:
    Preparation time is around 15 minutes.
    Preheat the oven to 350F
    • Mix together 2 tablespoons of flax seed meal and water, set aside for 3-5 minutes.
    • Cream (beat well) butter {or coconut oil} and sugar. Add eggs one at a time, mix well.
    • Stir flax seed mixture and add with vanilla to the margarine mix. Beat until blended.
    • Sift together dry ingredients, except oats and chips.
    • Add to margarine mixture. Stir in oats then chips.
    • Scoop or drop onto a greased or lined baking tray.

    • Bake for 8-12 min.
    My cookie dough turned out pretty wet, possibly because of the oil instead of butter, I've read some peoples were more dry with butter. Either way they'll taste good! Mine spread out while cooking and made pretty big cookies - I still got about 24 cookies out of this batch.

    Like I said, they were very delish and I did see a slight increase in my output. I was expecting more of an increase but again I was desperate when I tried and it was near my time-of-the-month. But I didn't have to pull from my freezer & I kept up with my baby's demands so that is a win for me!!

    I ate cookies for breakfast & snacked on them all day .
    I labeled my bags of cookies "BOOB COOKIES" to deter my kids from eating them {which wouldn't of hurt them if they did} and it worked :)

    I think next time I'll play with different add-ins. And try the version with butter. Coconut oil was good, but it's expensive and 1C took half my jar.

    I would highly recommend this recipe if you are trying increase your supply. It's easy {the hardest thing will be finding Brewer's Yeast - you can check healthfood stores, all I checked was Wal*Mart and Target and they did NOT have it (*when this was posted)- so I got mine on Amazon.} and it's a great excuse to EAT MORE COOKIES. Who doesn't like cookies?

    I used a Medela Pump and LOVED IT find them on Amazon Click HERE

    I found this recipe on the Australian website bellybelly.com
